Darfur armed outlaws in Al Fashir locality region last Friday, took hold, of 4 large trucks carrying equipment for Al Fashir Emergency Water-Supply project coming from the Federal capital to Al Fashir. Minister of Physical Planning and Public Utilities in North Darfur State, Ustaz Ibrahim Suleiman explained in a statement to SUNA that the equipment stolen was water tanks and building materials amounting to 20 million dinars. They were brought to finish executing Al Fashir Emergency Water-supply projects in which work had recently started to solve the problem of water shortage. The Minister stated that the equipment, after arrival and installation, might have contributed to the provision of 3 thousand gallons of drinking water daily to the town from Shafra region after a new carrier line 17 kilometres long was established to reach the town centre, in addition to the original 15 thousand gallons produced daily to contribute towards covering the water shortage. The town has an estimated consumption of 30 thousand gallons daily. The Minister described this act by the armed outlaws as irresponsible and as something that aggravates people's suffering in the state. He called on the armed outlaws to resort to reason and return those trucks together with all equipment so as to complete work in Al Fashir Emergency project. |
